I took this photo of a an advertising banner because I was interested in the way it showed the range of colours for Thai Buddhist monks' robes. But when I started looking at the photo I became interested in the mosquito logo which you find most often outside Health Centres and in schools.
I can't read the main text coming out of the speech bubble, but the piece in white letters beneath it I can. It refers to the jivorn, the monk's main outer robe , and says: "jivorn gan yoong mettakhun." Roughly translated this means jivorn deters mosquitoes with kindness.
It seems the robe is impregnated with something which will repel mossies but not kill them. Just what a monk needs, in fact.
